MARION DAVIS

Posted by Van Williams, ALB Media Director | Jul 19, 2019

Marion Davis was an incredibly kind and generous person. For many years as the Alaska general manager of Horizon/Matson, his company helped with many different baseball and sports field construction projects around the state.

Those include Bartlett High School, Colony High School, Dimond High School, Service High School, Mulcahy Stadium, Kosinski Fields, Polar Little League and Abbott-O-Rabbit Little League, to name just a few.

In addition, through Davis’s interest, Horizon/Matson helped with reduced transportation costs for field drying material, and dugout and fence construction in Fairbanks, Kenai, Wasilla and many other sites in Alaska.

His impact in providing improved and safe fields has touched thousands and thousands of Alaska kids.

His late grandson was Taylar Young and the Davis/Young family coordinated the development of the Taylar Young Memorial Ballpark at South Anchorage High School in Taylar's memory.

His family and the Taylar Young Memorial Foundation maintain the grounds at the field, including the memorial garden at the field.

Davis also served on many other nonprofit boards to include Special Olympics and Angelus Memorial Cemetery Association.
